Furniture Fever

Happy Friday. In the last Furniture Fever post I talked about my life long love of vintage leather chairs. Today I have the fever for a chair of a different sort. I will name it a "statement chair". An unexpected, unique and attractive chair - my favorite combination for any design and decor - that is not necessarily the same style as the rest of the furniture in the room. It is almost always vintage or at the very least looks vintage. The "statement chair" does not stand out like a sore thumb though, rather it draws you into the space and makes you appreciate the room that much more.

This is the image that gave me the fever. I love the way this chair looks with a vintage table and vintage (looking) wallpaper in the background and the sink-right-into me traditional sofa next to it. Furniture Fever rising :-)

The very next day I saw these late 1920's Bauhaus leather chairs for sale and started dreaming of using them with a vintage farm table and my fever was rising even more.

Here are some "statement chairs" that caught my eye years ago. I would call the vibe of this room "island formal" and the chairs fit into the island part, not the formal part - and that's the point of a statement chair!

I have been dreaming of a vintage rattan chaise for over thirty years as evidenced by this picture from my archives. Today, I would want to put this chaise in a room with more current and/or contemporary elements, less antiques. It would stand out as the star of the room for sure!

Following are some images that fed and maintained my fever over the past several weeks.

I love this statement chair. It looks like a piece of sculpture in this lovely room.

I would argue that all three of these chairs are statement chairs in their own right. The upholstered chair seems a perfect match for the coffee table and side table, where as the rattan chairs make a different statement on their own and make the room soar higher at the same time.

This chair in the bathroom?!!!? Stunning (and practical to sit in if you're wet lol).

This statement chair speaks to me. If I could buy this chair today, I would. Anywhere you put it, it would look fantastic. Love, love, love it.

This room is stunning with the wall to wall sofa, floor to ceiling windows, striped rug, and large square coffee table. Absolutely stunning. Both chairs make a statement in this space. The lines are different for each chair, however they both work to make this beautiful room truly exquisite. Swooning over this room.

I will be keeping my eye out for statement chairs at estate sales and flea markets. What about you? How else can I cure the fever? The chair is the medicine lol. I will be back on Manic Monday. Happy Weekend.

Thank you for coming by today, Kerry
